Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation Review

Illamasqua's highly anticipated new Skin Base Foundation hit the shelves a few weeks ago, so I picked it up in shade 03 (I usually wear a MAC NC15 - 20).  I paid £25.00 at Debenhams.  I've tried Illamasqua's cream foundation before, and loved the formulation, so I expected really great things from this new foundation.

On first impressions, the bottle appears to be on the small side, however with 30mls of product, it's an average amount.  With a quick swatch on the back of my hand, the colour and coverage seem great.

I applied this on to my normal to dry skin with a foundation brush, and hated the finish.  It didn't work into my skin well, leaving it looking streaky and patchy.

I tried again, this time using my fingers hoping the heat would even out the finish, and it definately looked much better.  The coverage is fairly low, so I still need to use concealer (at the minute I use Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer) over any imperfections.  I set this foundation with The Body Shop Honey Bronze Pressed Powder in Shade 01.

I can't say this foundation is my favourite, or worth £25.00.  The packaging is average, and if I end up reaching the bottom of the bottle, I'll have to cut it open to use the remainder.  The coverage is buildable, but requires too much effort to reach a 'perfect finish'.

Overall, I'd give this foundation 2 out of 5.
